The desk, can be adjusted in height, and comprises at least two uprights in two sections (3) sliding inside each other. One of the two sections (31 - 32) of the uprights has a rack (6), and the other has a cogged wheel (7) engaging in the rack. The cogged wheels are joined to a connecting bar (8) driven in a rotary motion by a control wheel. Each upright (3) has a telescopic ram (15-16) containing compressed fluid. A lock locks the two sliding sections.
