<p>The container comprises a supple covering (1) and is used to store liquids (2) or granular materials, being auto-stable by virtue of the transmission of the vertical component of base and wall pressures to centrally located supports (7,8). The supports can be supported on an axis as an alternative to the centre and the top of the container is open. The covering may comprise shaped panels conforming to the surface of retained materials in a state of hydrostatic equilibrium. The perimeter may have arcs (3) describing the curves of applied forces. The latter arcs may intersect (4) on the lines of vectors (5,6) transmitting vertical forces to central support.</p> |
