The connecting element is produced from a blank which is made by suitable bending from an electrically conductive metal sheet. Located at one end of the connecting element is a base (cap) (1) which can latch into a hole in a circuit board and can elastically grip a connection of a circuit component. Located at the other end of the connecting element are two fork-shaped contacts (2) which are arranged at a distance from one another in the lateral direction. A piece of insulating wire can be inserted between the elements or limbs (7) of each contact (2) so that the limbs (7) cut through the insulating layer of the wire and produce an electrical connection to the wire at two points which are located at a distance apart in its longitudinal direction.
