摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To manufacture a rolled material having less variation of sheet thickness, by forming an annular gap between an arbor and a sleeve in a variable-crown roll (VC roll), and by changing the pressure of hydraulic medium introduced into this annular gap correspondingly to the rolling load, in order to eliminate the deflection of the VC roll. CONSTITUTION:An annular gap is formed between an arbor 2 and a sleeve 3, and a hydraulic medium is introduced into this annular gap; the sleeve 3 is then bent by the medium pressure and a crown of a prescribed size is given to the sleeve 3. The medium pressure of this variable-crown roll (VC roll) is made variable by a hydraulic cylinder 7. An arithmetic device 9 actuates a driver 8 on the basis of an instruction sent from a memory 10 storing a preset pattern of the load variation; the driver 8 then adjusts the cylinder 7 in order to correct the deflection of the working zone of a work roll 11.</p>
