The element for securing vehicles carried by a railway wagon with a wooden floor comprises a base plate forming a stop with spikes which are driven into the floor. The plate acts as a stop for the wheels or the tracks preventing the vehicles from moving due to sway, braking, etc. Each stop plate (2) has two projecting parts (1) at one end, having a sloping face and a vertical face (8) connected by a rounded top. The plate has longitudinal grooves, and from the underside project four spikes (3), each with a pointed tip (5) sloping down from a cylindrical upper part (4). Further designs include two-piece plates for length adjustment, the front part incorporating the sloping spikes.
