Regeneration of brick dust surfaces, esp. tennis courts - where treatment with dil. nitric acid restores permeability of court to rain water

A surface made of brick-dust, esp. on sports arenas, is regenerated by treatment with an acid, esp. an aq. soln. of an acid. The pref. acid consists of an aq. soln. contg. 0.1-5% esp. 2% of nitric acid. The surface to be treated, e.g. a tennis court, is pref. exposed to 3-15 litres of the soln. per square metre. The acid soln. pref. contains a fungicide. Useful on tennis courts, where layers of slag are covered by layers of brick dust and compacted by repeated rolling in the presence of water. The surface then has adequate strength combined with good permeability to water. After some months, the permeability of the court decreases, so a long time elapses after rain before a court can be used. The invention eliminates this problem. The regeneration is simple and inexpensive.
