Apparatus for preheating a furnace burden comprising a static combustion chamber (4) communicating at one end with a duct (2) for conducting waste gases from the furnace (1) and, at the other end, with an inclined rotary kiln (6). Charge materials migrate through the kiln, and these are heated by the hot gases issuing through the combustion chamber, the material being discharged into a basket (10) from which the material is subsequently batch charged into the furnace. <IMAGE> |
