Heading C2C. 4 - Dialkylphosphonyl - 1,3 - dioxol - 2 - ones and 4 - alkylene phosphonyl - 1,3 - dioxol - 2- ones are prepared by reacting a 4 - halo - 1,3- dioxolone - 2 with a dialkyl or di-chloroalkyl phosphonate in which at least one alkyl radical contains at least 2 carbon atoms, or with an alkylene phosphonate at a temperature below 50‹ C., and in the presence of a tertiary amine, the amine and phosphonate being used in approximately stoichiometric proportions. The process may be carried out in the presence of an inert organic solvent. The products are useful as intermediates, flame-proofing agents, textile auxiliaries, stabilizers and plasticizers. |
