PURPOSE:To prevent the change in a sensing range due to the difference in reflected level of an object and to detect an obstacle, by providing a light emitting part and a light receiving part in the dead angle sensor for the vehicle employing light, with a distance provided, and perform scanning with a narrow beam. CONSTITUTION:The light emitting part 2a and the light receiving part 2b constituting the dead angle sensor 2 are provided at a rear part 1 of the vehicle with the distance being provided. A signal generated in a transmitting modulator 4 drives a light emitting diode 6 with a lens via a driver 5. The resulting narrow beam of 5- 10 deg.C scans the horizontal area behind the vehicle through a light emitting beam scanning system 7 driven by a scan driver 8. The narrow beam of 5-10 deg.C is received by a phototransistor 12 with a lens through a light receiving scanning system 11 which is driven by a light receiving scanning driver 10. If the obstacle 9 is located at a coincident point 3d of the transmitting and receiving beams, a received signal appears in the element 12, synchronously discriminated 14, led to a receiving level discriminating circuit 15, and displayed on a display part 17 via a positional relation discriminating circuit 16. |
