The mechanism (5) is intended for swivelling a crane jib or the like, e.g. such as is used for moving a spray head with high-pressure nozzles directing cleaning jets at the hull surface of a ship in dry dock. The jib arm carries the spray head at one end and has its other end pivoted (36) to a frame (16) (of a horizontally movable carriage.) The jib arm is (horizontally) swivelable over at least 180 deg. by at least one motor or actuating cylinder (39) (as shown) which is coupled to a transmission, such as a double-pivoted (138,133) linkage (131,132) (as shown), or a gear wheel and rack, arranged between the frame and the arm to exert a constant swivel moment on the arm in any position.
