1,158,284. Dyeing process. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 28 Sept., 1967 [10 Oct., 1966], No. 45197/66. Heading D1B. Hydrophobic textile materials are impregnated with aqueous processing liquors e.g. dye liquors by (1) subjecting the textile material to a sub-atmospheric pressure, (2) bringing the processing liquor and textile material so subjected into mutual contact and (3) restoring the pressure on the said material to atmospheric either simultaneously with step (2), or immediately thereafter. By "hydrophobic" is meant a textile material which is composed of fibres which are either essentially hydrophobic or which are naturally hydrophilic but contain natural or added impurities which render them hydrophobic. Suitable batch and continuous apparatus is described. In examples; (1) loom-state cotton poplin is dyed with an azo dye in soda ash solution; (2) unprepared cotton is dyed with C.I. Vat Green 1 in NaOH/sodium hydrosulphite solution; (3) wool serge is dyed with a chromium complex azo dye in solution with sodium alginate, a nonylphenol-ethylene oxide condensate and sodium dodecylbenzenesulphonate. |
