The dyes are prepared by conventional condensation reactions. Many pairs of suitable reactants are given (including mixtures, compounds in which ring D is fused to a benzo or cyclohexene ring, and compounds in which R 3 and ring B complete a 3 - methyl - 2,3 - dihydroindole, hexahydrocarbazole, 1,2,3,4 - tetrahydroquinoline or 7-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline ring). |
