In a beverage dispenser water passes valve 7, Fig. 1 and flow heater 8 to enter mixing chamber 10 with powder entering at 5a from auger 5 driven manually from lever 17 via lever 19, cord 20 and clutch-ratchet device 21, the levers 17, 19 being variably held in their lower positions to actuate switch 16 opening valve 7 to vary the quantity of water mixing with the powder. Vapour from the mixing chamber is conducted upwards to vents 13 via chimney 11 heated by lamp 12. On turning lever. The powder in chamber 3 is agitated by wheel 6 driven from auger 5. On pushing down handle 17, shaft 18 turns lever 19 pulling cord 20 over pulley 26 and unwinding cord off pulled 38b, Fig. 4 loose on shaft 31 but connected thereto via pawl 36 and ratchet wheel 35 to rotate auger 5 via key 33 in shaft 31, the rotation also winding up spring 41 which, on releasing handle 17, rotates the pulley 38b to rewind the cord without rotating the auger due to slipping of the pawl over the ratchet. The valve 7 may also be manually actuated from lever 17. The quantity of powder is variable by the number of times of depressing handle 17.</p> |
