<p>PURPOSE:To increase the accuracy for detection and the resolution, by making the detection coil nearly ellipse and making orthogonal its longer side to a magnetostriction delay line. CONSTITUTION:The longer side of an nearly ellipse type detection coil 14 is provided so as to intersect nearly orthogonal to a plurality of magnetostriction lines provided in parallel. A drive pulse is applied to an X directional drive coil terminal provided at X directional magnetostriction line to produce magnetostriction of each line and it is detected at a detection coil 14. Taking the detection coil 14 as nearly ellipse type, it is less in area in comparison with a circular coil to achieve less pickup of external noise, and since the number of magnetostriction lines included in the coil is increased, the time dispersion is averaged and the resolution is increased.</p> |
