PURPOSE:To give sag to an optical fiber cable by impregnating aromatic polyamide fiber with mixed wax, stranding >=1 optical fiber cable around a cordlike body at the normal temperature in one body, and then melting the mixed wax by elevating the temperature. CONSTITUTION:Into aromatic polyamide fiber 2 using as a reinforcing wire 1, required pieces of material, each haing 100-300-denier thickness sufficiently enough for tensile strength required for the whole of optical fiber cables, are inserted. After a required plastic corrosion-protective layer 7 is formed around this optical fiber cable assembly, the entirety of a drum wound with the cable is placed in a thermostatic chamber. Then, its internal temperature is elevated up to >= about 100 deg.C and held and mixed wax 3 with which the reinforcing wire 1 is impregnated is melted into liquid phase and flows out to be adsorbed to paper cords 6 extending in the gap of the optical fibers 4, so that the reinforcing wire 1 has the residual aromatic polyamide fiber 2. Therefore, the material supporting the optical fibers winding disappears to give relative sag to the reinforcing wire 1 lengthwise. |
