PURPOSE:To prevent a smear in case of the transfer of a frame, and to give a charge transfer function and an excessive charge drawing-out function by separating a photoelectric converting section and the charge transfer section and light-shielding the charge transfer section. CONSTITUTION:Stopping electrodes 15 for preventing the mixing of charges overflowing from the photoelectric converting element rows 11 with the signal charges of storage regions 14 are mounted among the charge transfer element rows 12 of a light receiving region with the photoelectric converting element rows 11 and the charge transfer element rows 12 and the storage regions 14. The stopping electrodes 15 function as transfer electrodes when charges are transferred to the storage regions from the light receiving region. Said charge transfer element rows 12 are worked as signal charge transfer channels and excessive charge drawing-out channels at every fixed time. Charges in the charge transfer element rows are swept out before charges in the photoelectric converting element rows 11 are transferred to the charge transfer element rows 12.
