PURPOSE:To measure simply and rapidly water content contained within a cable, by a method wherein a prescribed amount of dried gas is passed through a cable sample, and water content of the internal part of the sample is made to be adsorbed to be collected, and concentration and content of water are measured using a proper moisture meter. CONSTITUTION:A cap-shaped jigs 2 are installed on both sides of a cable sample 1 cut in prescribed length, and kept in contact with a gas circulating tube 4 via a valve 3. When water content contained in a gap between an insulator and the sheath of a cable 1 is measured, the jigs 2 are set on the sheath, and when only water content contained in a conductor is examined, sheaths on both ends of the cable 1 are stripped off, and the jigs 2 are installed on the insulator. After moisture contained in a dried gas such as air, N2 and others having a water content reduced below 10ppm by passing through an adsorbing agent 5 such as P2O5, etc., has been supplied from a cylinder 6 via the circulating tube 4 through the inside of the sample 1, all of them are collected in a collecting vessel 7. Then, water content (water concentration) in the vessel 7 is detected and measured with Gastech a moisture detecting tube 11 and others. |
