The desk top incorporates various fittings such as power points and telephone points into which appliances are plugged. The underneath surface of the table top has a central lengthwise channel (5) along it for accommodating electricity and telephone cables, and at least one recess (6). The table top has at least one cut-out section (3,4) over the recess for appliances. An opening (9d) gives access to the recess from the top of the desk. The cut-out section is covered by an apertured frame (9) clipped between the edges to retain e.g. dimmer switches and call buttons.
