PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material capable of sharply developing a colored picture having a highly stable and fastness against light and plasticizer as well as high color concentration not varying with time by using a specific furan compound as a color development agent. CONSTITUTION:A color development agent of a furan compound of the formula II is obtained from reaction of an alkenyl phenol or its linear dimer of the formula I (where R1 to R4 are each H or an alkyl group) with furan in the presence of an acid catalyst. Then, the color development agent and a colorless or light-color chromogenic agent (e.g., crystal violet lactone) are separately dispersed, together with a binder, in a solvent (e.g., water) not dissolving both agents to obtain respective dispersions. Then, both the dispersions are mixed together, coated on a supporter, and then dried to obtain a recording material. |
