Electric rotary lawn mower with variable cutting speed - uses controller to set speed of rotation of electric motor powering mower blades

The speed of rotation of the motor is adjustable over the range 2600RPM to 3600 RPM to allow the noise output to be reduced to acceptable levels at low speed, while a very fine quality lawn cut can be obtained at high speed. The controller is mounted on the handle (8) of the lawn mower, and the speed set by a control knob (13) fitted to the controller. The electric motor (7) which drives the blades (6) of the rotary mower is powered by an electric cable from the controller. The controller has several notched positions giving easy selection of the various speeds and retaining the setting despite mechanical vibration of the controller.
