The folding caravan comprises a trailer (1) which has a box part (5) to the sides (6,7) of which folding side panels (8,9) are hinged. A cover (13) pivots away from the box part (5) and has sides (16) to which other folding side panels (17,18) are hinged. The opposite edges (23,24) of a central flooring panel (22) are hinged to the bases of the box part (5) and the cover (13) respectively. A double-action spring device pref. a torsion bar arrangement is interposed between the central flooring panel (22) and the cover (13) and/or the box part (5) to assist the operator in unfolding the caravan.
