PURPOSE:To obtain a negative image with high maximum density by imagewise exposing photosensitive silver halide, particles of specified metallic salt, physically developing nuclei, and a photographic element contg. a silver halide developer on a support and carrying out processing with a reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:To layers on a support such as a polyester film are separately added (1) photosensitive silver halide, (2) particles of metallic salt which is more easily soluble than said silver halide and has no photosensitivity practically, (3) physically developing nuclei, and (4) a photographic element contg. a silver halide developer, or arbitrary two or more of (1)-(4) are added to the same layer. After imagewise exposure, processing is carried out with a processing soln. contg. a reducing agent in the presence of a compound difficultly solubilizing the surfaces of said metallic salt particles and a substance dissolving the particles to form a negative image. |
