The system has an air supply duct and a discharge air passage from the furnace housing room. In the supply duct is mounted an air control flap (26), opening when the combustion chamber (10) is exposed to heat demand, thus enabling starting operation of the combustion chamber. In the flue duct (14,16) there is mounted a conventional flue duct flap (18). The combustion chamber operation may be dependent on the opening of both air supply and flue gas flaps. On opening, the air supply flap transmits a signal tripping the opening of the flue gas flap, while the latter, on opening, transmits a signal enabling the combustion chamber operation start. When the combustion chamber is supplied with air from the surrounding room, the air supply flap may be fitted into a supply duct to the room.
