The panic lock with latch (31) and bolt (29) is provided with an internal handle follower (28) and with a panic lever (26) in coupling engagement with the latter, which, when actuated in the event of panic, makes it possible to push in the bolt (29). In order, in specific situations, for example in department stores or meeting places after the end of business or the end of a meeting, to prevent the unauthorised opening of panic doors provided with such panic locks by thieves or the like who have intentionally remained behind in the department stores or meeting places, and in order therefore to make it possible to cancel the panic function temporarily, the panic lever (26) is mounted displaceably and is to be brought, by an electromagnet armature (25) engaging on it and being under spring pressure, into and out of coupling engagement with the internal handle follower (28) or with a driving arm (28') present on the latter. <IMAGE>
