A dry feed layout for a series of animal cages 4, for example, for small furry animals, consists of a continuous horizontal pipe 2, which at each cage has a lower outlet hole 8. A short distance from this there is arranged, above the pipe, a feed holder 16, from which feed can drop down for the particular cage in the pipe 2 through an upper hole 14 in it. Inside the pipe 2 there is arranged a continuous ram rod 12, having at each cage a double ram 18, 20, bounding off a sliding cavity 26, such that this cavity 26 in one position of the ram rod 12 can be filled with feed from the feed holder 16 and when it moves to a second position brings this measured portion of feed to drop through the lower outlet hole 8 in the pipe 2. The feed dispensing can be fine-tuned by mutual axial adjustment of the two parts 18, 20 of the double ram, and the same movement mechanism, preferably a pneumatic cylinder 10, can produce simultaneous feeding for all the cages 4 along the individual series of cages 4 upon movement of the ram rod 12. <IMAGE>
