In a pressure vessel having domed ends concave to the pressure, the space within the dome is in certain situations undesirable. To minimize this space, one or both ends of the vessel are equipped with space-filling inserts comprising multiple plates (13) of aluminium or other light metal secured in closely spaced parallel relationship. The plates are preferably thicker than the spaces between them and may be formed with fluid ports (17). |
