Vibration instrument for dental care - has piezoelectric transducer and amplitude transformer driven by HF oscillator

This hand held vibration instrument for gum massage and removal of tartar formation is based on the piezo-electric effect. It comprises a high frequency oscillator which drives a set of piezo-electric wafers acting as transducers. The high frequency oscillator (18) which derives its power from the low voltage secondary of a mains transformer, drives a set of piezoelectric wafers (9,10) attached to the metallic vibrator (3). This extends via a vibration transformer (6), which transforms short sharp amplitudes into greater more gentle vibrations, to a rod (7), at the end of which is a bulb shaped tool (26). A central channel (22) is provided for a cleansing fluid.
