<p>Saturatable absorber for a laser contains a soln. of a bleachable dyestuff (I) in a solvent (II). (I) consists of a Ni dithiene of formula (A). (II) is 1,2-dichlorobenzene, CHC13, chlorobenzene, bromobenzene, diphenyl sulphide, iodo-benzene, CH2Cl2, C2H4Cl2, quinoline, CS2, toluene, benzene, thiophen, chlorobicyclo(2,2,1)-heptane, MeI, 1,4-dichlorobutane, acetophenone, pyridine, nitroanisole, iodoaniline, CC14, C2H2Cl2, CBr4, tetrahydrothiophen, 1,6- dibromohexane, acetylacetone, CH2I2, DMA or benzonitrile. The absorber is used between a laser oscillator and enhancer and/or between 2 consecutive enhancers; as quality switch; and for passive mode coupling. It is used esp. in an iodine laser array (emission wavelength 1315 nm). Pref. the absorber consists of a 1,2-dichlorobenzene (IIA) soln. contg. up to 5 x 10 power-4 mole (I)/l.</p> |
