Detecting vehicle rotation about longitudinal axis - using magnet rotating about conductor with amplifier connected to both ends

The detector appts. includes a sensor for detecting the vehicle rotation about its longitudinal axis produces a corresp. signal and is mounted in the region of the longitudinal axis, e.g. near the tunnel at the height of the gear lever. The sensor may be electrical or electrodynamic. In the latter case a conductor and magnet move relative to each other and a measurement amplifier connected to both ends of the conductor produces the output signal. The conductor is attached solidly to the vehicle and the permanent magnet is mounted so as to rotate about an axis coaxial with the vehicle longitudinal axis. The arrangement for identification of a rotational motion of a vehicle about its longitudinal axis can detect vehicle decelerations and trigger safety equipment such as safety belt locks and inflatable retention equipment.
