Aqs. vinylidene copolymer dispersion for coating pretreated polyolefin supports contains a copolymer of 70 - 95% wt. vinylidene chloride, 0.3 - 3% wt. N-alkylolamide of an ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid, and 2-29.7% wt. of another ethylenically unsatd. monomer, e.g. acrylonitrile. Esp. useful for coating polyolefin films for use in food packaging. The vinylidene chloride copolymer adheres firmly to the pretreated polyolefin film. The coated film is impermeable to air, gases, fats and flavours, non-toxic, odourless, heat sealable, and has a good flexibility.
