A sampling-type measuring circuit is described which provides for extremely accurate amplitude measurements at particular points on a complex wave train containing radio-frequency components. Such measurements are required in connection with television wave train calibration instruments. A sampling circuit having extremely short sampling switching times is used so that an associated storage capacitor is continuously charged in discrete steps until the level of the sampled wave train amplitude is reached. A voltage drop across the storage capacitor is compensated for by feedback devices and, at the same time, changes in the bias characteristics of the sampling circuit are corrected.
