PURPOSE:Electric power is generated with renewable energy and water is electrolyzed with the power to produce hydrogen, which is dehydrated and stored in the form of a specific metal hydride, thus enabling the storage of renewable energy and the utilization when needed. CONSTITUTION:Electric powers generated from solar cells 1, a wind power plant 2 and wave power plant 3 are combined and leveled, then supplied to the electrolyzer for solid electrolyte 4 to effect the electrolysis of pure water, resulting in the formation of high-pressue hydrogen. The hydrogen is dehydrated to the level of 99.999% purity by passing it through the multi-layered dehydrator 5 composed of mist separators equipped with cartridge-type densely sintered metal filter elements and the collected water is expelled out to the storage tank 7. The dehydrated hydrogen is made to react with a rare earth element -Ni-Co alloy to form its hydride and the hydride is stored. When needed, the hydride is used to generate hydrogen for utilization. |
