PURPOSE:In preparing the titled compound by reacting (meth)acrylic acid with an alkylene oxide using a Cr compound as a catalyst, to suppress side reactions and to improved a yield, by keeping methylene oxide in a specific concentration by the end of the reaction. CONSTITUTION:Using at least one Cr compound selected from the group consisting of a halide of Cr, saturated or unsaturated Cr compund, and oxide of Cr as a catalyst, (meth)acrylic acid is reacted with an alkylene oxide, to give the titled compoumd. In the reaction, the mole concentration of the alkylene oxide is maintained in a concentration more than 3 times that of Cr compound throughout the reaction. Consequently, side reactions and polymerization of the desired reaction product can be prevented, to improve the purity and yield. |
