<p>The present invention provides a method for the production of unbleached sulphite cellulose of high brightness, purity and strength or for bleached cellulose from knots in which said knots are defibrated and in a first stage treated with oxygen is an alkaline milieu at a temperature above 100.degree.C and under pressure. The unbleached cellulose so obtained may be finally bleached in a second stage alone or in admixture with conventionally produced unbleached cellulose.</p> |
