PURPOSE:To give a proper back tension in order to make a rolling work precisely operatably, by forming a clamping member for a rolled material with two or more kinds of members, and by making the friction factor of the clamping member against the rolled material, large when the rolled material is pushed into a mill, and small when the rolling work continues. CONSTITUTION:A rolled material 8 is threaded through a couple of wooden clampers 9, 10 and a couple of clamping members 13, 14; then, the rolled material 8 is clamped, is guided toward the rolling rolls, and is fed to the roll gap. The friction factor of said wooden clampers 9, 10 against the rolled material 8 is small, and that of the clamping members 13, 14 is large. When the rolled material 8 is pushed into the roll gap, the material 8 is clamped by all of clamping members 9, 10 and 13, 14; however, when the rolling work continues, the material 8 is clamped by only the wooden clampers 9, 10 and hereby, the material 8 is exactly bitten by the rolling rolls. A back tension is given to the material 8 by the clamping pressure of clampers 9, 10 so that the transverse offset of the material 8 is prevented. |
