X-RAY SPECTRAL DECOMPOSITION IMAGING SYSTEM

Apparatus is disclosed for providing energy dependent x-ray images of objects. The apparatus comprises a radiation source positioned on one side of the object, producing radiation at at least a lower and a higher region of the energy spectrum which traverses the object At least one radiation detector position on the other side of the object opposite that of the source and producing at least two sets detection signals corresponding with the regions of energy spectrum. Computational device processes each of the sets of signals to produce at least two sets of reconstruction signals which are the line integrals of an energy dependent component. A device is provided for converting the reconstruction signals into images of the object.
