PURPOSE:To impart uniform and strong negative chargeability, and to improve toner filming and abrasion property, by adding a metallic oxide surface-treated with an organic acid having a fluorinated carbon group to a toner. CONSTITUTION:Silicon oxide, iron oxide, titanium oxide, alumina, or the like powder is treated with a solvent solution of a compound represented by the formula Rf(CH2)nX or (RfO)mAr-Xw in which n=0-9, m=1-3, w=1-3; Rf is alkyl, alkenyl, or aryl substituted by at least one fluorine atom; Ar is alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl; and X is carboxy, sulfo, or hydroxy. The powder with the organic acid having the fluorinated carbon group attached on the surface is kneaded together with a binder resin, iron oxide powder, carbon black, etc. to prepare a desired toner. |
