1368814 Abrading FESTO-MASCHINENFABRIK GOTTLIEB STOLL 19 Nov 1971 [21 Nov 1970] 53734/71 Heading B3D A portable grinder comprises a plate 3 arranged to be oscillated or reciprocated by a motor within a housing 2 and releasably supporting, e.g. abrasive paper 5, and means for removing abraded dust, including a hollow space 11 within the plate 3 connected to suction means (not shown) and passages 13, 13<SP>1</SP> through the plate 3, the abrasive paper 5 having apertures 12 arranged to correspond with the passages 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. The plate 3 includes a rigid part 15 supporting resilient material 41, e.g. rubber or plastics, and the suction is applied through an opening 14, the plate 3 including surface grooves 43 communicating with the atmosphere at the periphery of the plate 3. A flexible suction line may lead directly from the opening 14 to the suction source, e.g. a vacuum cleaner, or a suction line 26, Fig. 1, may be attached to a member 36 screwed to the housing 2 and connected to the opening 14 by a flexible tube 28. A flexible rubber seal 18 protects the plate driving mechanism from dust, and clamping members 6 allow quick release of the abrasive paper 5. |
