1344898 Shovel excavators H K NILSSON 28 Oct 1971 [28 Oct 1970] 50128/71 Heading E1F [Also in Division Gl] In an earth-moving apparatus in which a jib-mounted, earth-moving implement is movable up and down relative to a jib-supporting, controls-containing turret rotatable about a vertical pivot on a chassis there is provided an indicator system for indicating in the turret the vertical position of the member relative to a datum level. The system involves a body of fluid contained in a housing on the implement actuating through a fluid-filled conduit a pressure-responsive indicator in the turret. Preferably the system involves a tube 22 so located on the turret that the head of .the body of fluid is at all times located in the tube, a conduit 18 extending along the boom and the dipper stick of the apparatus and an implement-mounted receptacle 21 divided by a flexible diaphragm. The means for indicating and/or responding to the fluid head may be by the tube 22 being a sight tube or being associated with photo-electric or magnetic sensors that can determine the position of the head of the fluid in tube 22. A compensating chamber may be connected to the tube 22. The deformation of the diaphragm in receptacle 21 may be used to actuate a limit switch. |
