1360669 Acrylonitrile polymer spinning solutions BAYER AG 1 Dec 1971 [5 Dec 1970] 55692/71 Heading C3P A spinning solution of an acrylonitrile polymer having an X-ray crystalline component (according to the Hendus method) of more than 28%, a K value (according to Fikentscher) of more than 80 and a narrow molecular weight distribution characterized by an inhomogeneity factor (according to Vollmert) of less than 0À2, dissolved in ethylene glycol carbonate and/or dimethyl formamide is stabilized against localized swellings or gelation and against discolouration by inclusion therein of from 0À1 to 5%, based on the weight of polymer, of a compound containing an oxidizable sulphur atom. (The acrylonitrile polymers having the stated characteristics and their preparation are described in Specification 1,348,420.) Suitable stabilizers indude alkyl, aryl and hydroxyalkyl mercaptans, mercapto group-containing acids and esters, thioethers, sulphoxides, sulphinic acids and their salts, and phenothiazine. |
