PURPOSE:To obtain steep magnetic-field distribution near a head gap by providing high-conductivity members on flanks of a magnetic core. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head on a transverse recording system consists of a magnetic core 1 having a gap part 4, a coil 2 wound around it, and high-conductivity members 3 procided on both the flanks of the magnetic core 1. Consequently, magnetic flux, while varying a write frequency, is to pass through the members 3, and then eddy currents are generated to limit the passing of the magnetic flux through the members 3. Therefore, leakage magnetic field from the magnetic core flanks are lessened and steep magnetic-field distribution is obtained nesar the gap. |
