PURPOSE:To improve the running stability and durability of a magnetic recording medium by improving the lubricity and wear resistance of a magnetic layer by making the magnetic layer contain a specific organic silicone compound. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer is made to contain an organic silicone compound which has a polyoxyalkylene chain, a hydrocarbon group and an aryl-group containing hydrocarbon group, having an excellent affinity with a binder and lubricity, in a principal chain at the same time sa shown by the general formula in the right margin [R1 is a C7-C26 hydrocarbon group, R2 and R4 are C1-C26 hydrocarbon groups, and R3 is a C1-C2 hydrocarbon group or -H; (p) is 0-7, (q) and (r) are 0-50; and 0<=n1<=1,000, 1<=n2+n3n4<=500, and n1+n2+n3+n4 <=1,000]. |
