The strap emergency cutter has a housing (7) with a handle (8) fitted to the car body by a slide connection (15). The housing (7) has a slot (3) accommodating the strap (1) while the entrance of the slot is fitted with a protrusion (13) preventing the cutter from sliding off the strap. The far end of the slot (3) is fitted with a blade (2) positioned beyond the edge of the strap. There is an opening (5) in the housing between the blade and the strap edge. It accommodates a pin (4) which keeps the cutter in its inactive position. When the cutter has to be used in emergency, the pin (4) is removed and the rescuer pulls the handle (8), whereby the housing slides in the assembly (14) and blade (2) cuts laterally through the strap (1). |
