<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a liq. crystal display device with superior heat resistance, high orientation stability over a long term and superior durability by forming a polyoxadiazole film on the surface of each electrode plate of a display device and orienting the film. CONSTITUTION:A film of polyoxadiazole represented by the formula [where each of R1 and R2 is (substituted) phenylene or 1-3C alkylene, and n is a positive integer] is formed on an electrode plate. The film is formed by applying a coating soln. prepared by dissolving polyhydrazide obtd. by the soln. polycondensation of dicarboxylic acid dihydrazide and diacid dichloride at a low temp. in DMF or the like to the surface of the electrode plate and by heating the soln. under reduced pressure. The formed film is rubbed to obtain an orienting film with stable heat resistance. Such 2 electrode plates are set opposite to each other so that the orienting directions meet at right angles, and a liq. crystal is sealed to obtain a heat sealed display device with superior durability.</p> |
