A height adjuster positions the vertical setting of the clamp, to hold the side seams of the coat shoulder section for ironing. An operating lever (44) moves the height adjuster (32), at the clamp (1), esp. at the fixed section (4) of the two assembly sections (3,4). The lever (44) has a vertical movement to raise or lower the clamp (1). A side adjustment (33) is provided, in addn. to the complete height adjustment assembly (29), for the side movement and tilting action of the clamp (1) through a universal or ball joint (40,46). The mechanism allows the equipment to be used for garments of various sizes.
