<p>Soft ferrite cores are treated with acid in the presence of nascent hydrogen to remove damaged surface layers and thus increase permeability and decrease hysteresis losses. For manganese zinc ferrites, the cores are covered with powdered Zn and conc. HCl added. The nascent hydrogen reduces the oxides to metals which then dissolve in the acid.</p> |
