The implant for the treatment of scoliosis has a bar subjected to compression load and placed on the concave side of the spinal column. Hooks on the bar exert thrust on vertebrae, so as to stretch the portion of the column between them. One hook (16) at least is secured by friction on the bar (14), typically using a slotted clamping sleeve (18) with a bore (15) accommodating the bar, and clamped to the latter by a nut (17). Alternatively, the hook can have two jaws fitting round the bar and clamped against it by a bolt.
