The boiler for use with an atmospheric gas burner, can be designed as a horizontal or vertical cylinder. This has an outer wall (11) with an inner cylinder (3) with the end remote from the burner (12) closed. In the space between is a ring of radial spacer baffles (10), and around the outside is a water jacket (14). The hot gases (8) inside can circulate (9) before discharge towards the open end (4) and also through a set of openings (5) near the open end. This allows the gases to circulate through the space containing the radial baffles and over the outside of the closed end of the inner cylinder before discharge through the chimney opening (13). The hot gases passing through the end openings (5) are guided by inwardly bent flanges (7) at one end of these openings, facing the return flow (9).
