Downstream of a rotary transverse cutter (1) for cutting sheets of paper, there is arranged a belt-collecting section (9), which comprises an upper and a lower belt track (7 and 8 respectively) for taking hold of and conveying away the sheets of paper when they have been cut. In order to take hold, in a reliable fashion, of the ends of the sheets of paper which have curled up to a greater or lesser extent in dependence on the respective speed and the thickness of the sheets of paper, optimum adjustment of the outlet region of the belt- collecting section (9) is achieved in that adjustment means (14, 28, 29) are provided for overall adjustment of the belt-collecting section with respect to the transverse cutter (1), and adjustment means (33, 42; 34, 41) are provided for individual adjustment of the belt tracks (7 and 8 respectively). <IMAGE>
