Sealing arrangement for a screw mechanism

A description is given of a sealing arrangement for a screw mechanism having a hollow screw which is mounted within the screw housing. An oil conduit projects with a small clearance into the bore of the hollow screw from the rear end of the housing. Helical turns are formed along the surface of the oil conduit and/or along the inner wall of the end of the hollow screw and, at high screw speeds, air which seals off the oil is taken along by these turns. In conjunction with compressed-air sealing arrangements, stable support for the screw at very high speeds, entry of oil into the interior of the housing and avoidance of leakage losses is achieved.
